Mrs. Crystal Austin
Mrs. Crystal W. Austin, a proud native of Florence, South Carolina, is a graduate of West Florence High School. She holds a Bachelor of Science in Marketing, a Master of Arts in Rehabilitation Counseling, a Master of Education in Counselor Education, and an Educational Specialist degree in Educational Administration— all from South Carolina State University.
With over 31 years of counseling experience, including five years as a Children and Adolescent Counselor, Mrs. Austin is deeply committed to advocating for students and strengthening the connection between schools and the community. As the Lead Professional School Counselor at Bethune-Bowman Middle/High School, she provides comprehensive support to students, parents, and educators, fostering a collaborative and nurturing learning environment.
Mrs. Austin is passionate about ensuring that every student recognizes their potential and achieves personal and academic success. She is dedicated to the district’s mission of empowering students to discover and develop their identity, purpose, and future platform through high-quality educational experiences.
Her guiding philosophy is best captured in her favorite quote: “Save the child, and you save the nation.” She firmly believes in the transformative power of education and its ability to shape future generations.
Mrs. Austin and her husband, Nevin R. Austin II (Randy), are proud parents of four children and grandparents to two grandsons.
Tamika Tucker
My name is Mrs. Tamika Tucker, and I proudly serve as the Career Specialist at Bethune-Bowman Middle/High School. I hold a Bachelor’s degree in Sociology with a minor in Criminal Justice from Claflin University and have earned my certification in Career Development from Coastal Carolina University.
With a passion for student success, I work closely with students in grades 6-12 to help them explore career pathways, set future goals, and develop the skills necessary for success beyond high school.
Outside of my professional role, I am a devoted wife and mother of three.

Shirley Hickson-Adams
Hello, my name is Shirley Hickson-Adams, and I proudly serve as the PowerSchool SIS Operator, Principal’s Secretary, and Athletic Secretary at Bethune-Bowman Campus, supporting students from Pre-K through 12th grade. I have been dedicated to this institution since October 5, 2005.
My educational background includes studies at Bauder College in Atlanta (Graphic Design), Orangeburg-Calhoun Technical College (Certified Nursing Technician), and Capella University (Information Technology).
I am committed to ensuring the seamless operation of our school’s administrative functions while supporting our students, staff, and athletic programs.
Samarrow B. Pelzer
Hello, my name is Samarrow B. Pelzer, and I am a lifelong resident of Orangeburg County, born and raised in Rowesville, SC. I am a proud graduate of Bowman High School and continued my education at Claflin University, where I earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Sociology with a minor in Criminal Justice.
I have been blessed to serve in various capacities within my community, including multiple School Improvement Councils, PTA, youth programs, Athletic Booster Clubs, and Outreach Ministries. Additionally, I work faithfully with the Children and Youth of Pineville United Methodist Church. It has always been my passion to support and encourage children, helping them achieve success in life.
I have been married to Mr. Mark Pelzer Sr. for 33 years, and together, we are the proud parents of two wonderful children. I firmly believe in the words of Maya Angelou: "I’ve learned that people will forget what you said, people will forget what you did, but people will never forget how you made them feel." Each day, I strive to be the best version of myself by uplifting and assisting those in need.
